With a long list of winnings and nominations already under its wing, it comes as no surprise that the Damien Chazelle directed film La La Land lands the win for best editing of a comedy feature this past Friday! The award went to editor Tom Cross, an Oscar winner and ACE nominee for Chazelle’s previous film, Whiplash. We had the honor of working with Cross and the rest of the post production team at our Studio City facility and are so proud of the film’s accomplishments! ABC has given an early renewal to The Middle, the network’s Midwestern comedy that is now due to return in the fall! The show follows the Hecks of Orson, Indiana, an average family getting through the daily grind of life. It has been a great eight seasons providing our services to the show and we look forward to continuing our technical support for season 9! FX’s series Legion is the newest story from the Marvel family and it’s certainly holding up to its name! The series is based on the story of David Haller, a young man dealing with psychological issues that correlate with the supernatural occurrences Haller begins to develop. We are proud to have provided our technical services to the show and are super excited to check it out! Entertainment Weekly showed off the first official images of Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon as Hollywood rivals Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, respectively. The duo stars in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming show Feud, which follows the legendary rivalry between the two during the 30’s and 40’s. Craig Gillespie’s biopic I, Tonya has officially cast Caitlin Carver as champion figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. Starring Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding, the films centers around Harding’s involvement with the 1994 assault scandal of Nancy Kerrigan. The film’s post production team is currently working at our Studio City office and we are so excited to provide out technical services to the film. Moonlight is nominated for eight Academy Awards this year, including best picture and best director! However the most exciting nomination the film is up for is best editing, with editor Joi McMillon being the first black woman nominated in this category! Moonlight marks McMillon’s first feature-length film, working alongside co-editor Nat Sanders. The two have been long time friends and are currently working together on a new project at our Studio City facility. We are so proud of them for achieving such success and are grateful to provide them with the best technical support around! The celebrated musical everyone has been talking about, La La Land, is up for 14 Academy Award nominations, landing itself in a record tie with Titanic and All About Eve! The musical ode to old Hollywood centers around a jazz pianist who falls in love with an aspiring actress in Los Angeles. The film’s stars, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, are both up for lead acting nominations, alongside Damien Chazelle’s nomination for best director.
